John Lewis Secret Santa Challenge

I had promised myself that I would refrain from mentioning anything to do with Christmas before December 1st, but that was all before I was invited to take part in the John Lewis Secret Santa challenge. All good intentions have since gone out the window and I'm ready to embrace the Christmas spirit with both the bear and the hare (see the new John Lewis Christmas advert here).

Autumn Canvas in our Lounge

Since we moved house last month, I've found myself looking longingly at homewares in the same way I used to look at handbags and accessories. This sudden craze has me composing mental wishlists of the latest decorative accessories from Next and home furnishings from Laura Ashley, instead of my normal handbags, shoes and accessories addiction.

M&J London Packaging

Let me start this post with a little confession; I've never reviewed a candle before, or indeed any product where I'm required to rely solely on my use of adjectives to describe it. Fashion is pretty straightforward; style the item, wear it, photograph it and add accompanying text, always mindful that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ and therefore I need only add fifty and let the photos do the talking instead. Not the case with a candle - I'm going to have to dig deep into my vocabulary of scented expressions and try to convey via this blog post just how lovely the fragrance of this candle actually is.

Effective excuses to avoid arguments, interrogations and general feelings of guilt.

2.I needed cheering up
3.I deserved to treat myself
4.I have wanted it for ages
5.I haven't bought anything new in ages
6.I never spend much on myself
7.I'll get a lot of wear out of it
8.They were practically giving them away
9.It was too good a bargain to miss
10.It’s an investment

Faye enjoying the Piccadilly Hamper

Sunshine. Actual sunshine in the British Isles! Us Brits are frequently lambasted for our constant need to comment on the weather, but when you live in a country where you can experience all four seasons in one day, it’s going to make the headlines. Recently however, we've been basking in an unusually good spell of sunny weather. Gone is the normal attire of raincoats over summer outfits and rainy day activities replacing best laid sunshine plans. Instead, us Brits have been able to indulge in more traditional summer pastimes like picnics, beach trips and watching Wimbledon without the roof closed!
