Preen by Thornton Bregazzi SS14
Candy pink, vibrant coral and powder blue - is it wrong to fall in love with a collection from the colour palette alone?! Preen by Thornton Bregazzi SS14 collection features Miami-inspired geometric prints, graphic colours and zigzag hems, it quite literally lit up the catwalk during London Fashion Week and has now landed at one my favourite online boutiques.
Made up of design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi and originally launched in 1996 as a boutique on London's Portobello Road, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi is now one of Britain's hippest labels. When Avenue32 got in touch and asked me whether I’d like to review their collection of Preen pieces I jumped at the chance. I rarely focus on collections from one specific designer, preferring instead to look at trends from across multiple designers in a season, but Preen’s SS14 collection is simply too eye-catching to miss.
Their choice of colours is what initially attracted me, but I was soon equally fascinated by their art deco inspired prints and cuts. I particularly like the idea of wearing some of the bolder items together, or toning the look down by combining one of the items with a more muted piece. And while I could never pull off wearing cat eye sunglasses, I can’t help but admire them anyway. Favourites from the collection include the fluoro pink aero skirt, the black georgette floral elli dress, grey marl silk blush skirt and ivory phillipa cat eye sunglasses.
As if pre-emptying me, Preen have also teamed up with Nails Inc to create a capsule nail polish collection inspired by its SS14 collection. Being nine months pregnant needn't stop me from incorporating some Miami-themed colours into my outfits this season!
